Northern Myotherapy specialise in the treatment of soft tissue – muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia. The purpose of our treatments is to provide pain relief, re-establish and preserve this tissue function, to prevent injuries and accelerate healing. My brother recommended me to Michael. Best thing he has ever done. Michael seemed to know my back problem straight away. No one else has. Cannot recommend him higher. I did a job after treatment and not once did I have the sharp pains in my back. My back was sore but he told me to expect that. I have not felt this goodin my back for well over a year and plenty of money paid out. Give him a crack

Michael is actually a magician… I don’t know what wizardry he possesses but he is amazing. One visit and I am feeling 95% better than when I hobbled in to his clinic. Lower back pain eased drastically and am able to lift my left leg again and can now drive my manual car to put the clutch in!! Thank you so much you have really worked your magic!!!

Confusion between remedial massage therapy and myotherapy is understandable given that both modalities treat a range of non-specific soft tissue pain and ailments. The primary distinction between the two is the fact that myotherapists use a much broader range of massage techniques.
Myotherapists complete an advanced diploma of remedial massage. The additional things covered in an adv dip are dry needling, advanced assessment, exercise rehabilitation, ultra sound, tens and cupping. In general a myotherapist has a broader range of techniques to use in remedial massage treatments.
Myotherapists are members of associations such as the Myotherapy Association Australia (MAA) which allow them to receive health rebates from private health funds when they graduate. Physiotherapists are regulated by AHPRA, which allows them to work in hospitals.
Many physiotherapists practice the same types of techniques as myotherapist, including soft tissue techniques, mobilisations, client education, etc. Some physiotherapists also practice dry needling, though this is not included in their undergraduate degree as it is in the Bachelor of Health Science (Myotherapy) degree.
